The technological choices made by Viously, video production company and video player (Futura, Auto Moto, Demotivateur), have beenenvironmentally-friendly since its creation in 2017. The start-up hadn’t initially designated this aspect as a marketing strategy. As the industry evolves, Viously’s goal is to do its part by creating high-performance, environmentally responsible video.
“Our goal has always been to improve the overall experience of in-stream video through strong choices regarding technology and infrastructure, optimized for the green transition”, says Loïc Dussart, co-founder of Viously. “And we’re doing it by using “green” data center and server equipment from the CIV company, located in the North of France. We’ve set up reforestation projects to reduce our carbon footprint. The energy produced by our servers is being reused to power and heat an industrial area in the region”, he explains.
Developing a fast player helps reduce digital pollution. "A faster player is expected to consume less power while providing better performance through an optimized viewing experience. The player’s algorithms calculate the best video format based on both the video user’s device and network in order to consume the least amount of bandwidth."
